Chillin’ with the Pope at St. Pete’s

On Sunday, we headed to St. Peter’s Basilica. Needless to say, it was amazing, massive and free, the latter really surprised me. I’m glad this was the last European church we saw on the trip, because if it was reversed everything else would pale in comparison. While we were there we happened to catch both Mass, with its impressive procession of priests, and the Pope’s Sunday blessing. The Pope spoke from his apartment, which was far away and barely visible, but our telephoto lens was able to somewhat capture him. We may not be very religious but it was pretty cool to be blessed by the Pope, even if it was in Italian so none of us understood a word of what he was saying.

  1. I’m sad you’re leaving soon, but glad you got to see the Pope and the Vatican. Did you get your passport stamped? And interesting that he spoke Italian, I thought those pope dudes only spoke Latin. Well, in churchy sitches.
