Today’s Lunch

For our final meal in France, we headed to the small town of Céreste to La Pastorale, a restaurant highly recommended by the woman we are renting our cottage from. The restaurant is owned and run by Jessica and Marteen, a couple from Holland. This was the best meal we had in Provence and a perfect way to end the trip. The food was exquisite, the hosts lovely and the value extraordinary. Our whole lunch, including one appetizer, two entrees, two desserts, a pichet of wine and one espresso came to €45 . Even with the exchange rate, that is a bargain and a half.
Grilled Scallops Appetizer

Brett's starter of perfectly cooked scallops in a tomato/pine nuts/basil oil sauce.

My extremely fresh red fish entree with some type of delicious sauce, green beans and a pesto stuffed tomato.

Brett's steak topped with a slightly cinnamony sauce, incredible pureed beets and parsnips.

My trio of desserts: rich chocolate mousse, adorable creme brulee and creamy raspberry yogurt.

Brett ordered the full version of creme brulee. He practically licked the dish.
