An Empty House

Tonight is our last night in our house. Pretty much everything has been packed up, loaded into the moving van or our little U-Haul and we’re sleeping on a borrrowed mattress from our neighbors. It’s kind of weird.

As you can imagine, it’s been a crazy week. The movers came bright and early Thursday morning. This was a different group than the superstar packers and unfortunately, superstar is definitely not the adjective I would use to describe these guys. Bless their hearts, there were only three of them, two of them definitely should’ve been enjoying retirement and slow as molasses. We were doubting their ability to get it done in one day, but by 5 p.m., everything was loaded.

Later in the day - check out all those boxes!

When I first walked into the living room, after it was all swept and cleaned up, I had this wave of excitement hit me because it reminded me of when we first moved in. That feeling that this was our space to make our own and the possibilities were endless. This is definitely something I wasn’t expecting. And it wasn’t until tonight that I started truly feeling like we are closing this chapter, and another young couple will be coming into this space and making it their own. But Brett and I keep reminding ourselves that home is wherever we are and that is what matters. So we spend this last night in our house and look forward to all that awaits us. Kind of weird. Kind of scary. Kind of exciting.
