Packing Complete – Check!

The original title of this post was going to be: And the packing begins. But the packing is already complete! Our whole entire house is all packed up.

How is this possible you ask? Well, we were lucky enough to be granted one final move from the Army. And when I say moving, I mean packing too. Which, of course, was a huge relief and part of what makes this entire move possible. So last night we scrambled around to pull out all of the things that we wanted to take with us. Everything that is packed by the movers will be put into storage in Pittsburgh for at least 6-8 months, depending on how long it takes us to find a house. So, we had to pull out everything we may need in that amount of time, which is a little stressful. Yet, how much do you really need? Granted, I seem to need a lot of clothes.

The movers showed up this morning at 8:30 a.m. We were told it would take two days to pack and one day to load. Since Brett has been through this many times, he made it sound like they would do the least important rooms today and leave other rooms, like the kitchen, until the next day. Well, as soon as the guys came in, they said they will try to get the house done in one day. And sure enough, guess which room they started with? The kitchen. The one guy even started packing up the dirty dishes in the dishwasher before he realized they were still dirty. We still had coffee in the coffee pot.

These guys were incredible. By 1:30 p.m. they had packed up the majority of the house and were on to the shed and the garage. By 3 p.m. they were done. All packed up in one day! I don’t think I’m ever going to want to pack up a house when I see how efficient the whole process is when you hire packers.

So now, we are sitting in our house, with everything that can be packed in a box, packed up. So we still have our furniture, including our bed, which is nice. Once the actual movers come to our house, we’ll just be left with the stuff we’re taking to Buffalo with us.

The coolest part of all of this is that I’m not even sad to see our house packed up. Don’t get me wrong, we have had some great memories in this house, but the time is right to move on and we are ready!

Brett and some of the stuff we're taking with us.

Hopefully everything fits our little Uhaul trailer.

  1. Hey there! Love the photos ~ hate you because they had you packed in a day. We never finished packing. We just took four days and a flatbed truck and just kept hauling crap to our new house. I’ll miss your house. It was cute!
